And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw… (2 Kings 6:17)
My, how interesting it is to discover that much of what we see put on display in the window of life is oftentimes only a mirage. In this day of information at our fingertips; a simple click or swipe can open up new realms of deception often presented as authentic reality, when in fact, the REAL truth is sometimes miles away from the conveyed idea.
Now, more than ever, we must pray as the Prophet Elisha prayed for his servant in 2 Kings 6:17. Praying this way for ourselves, our leaders and fellow laborers for Christ is not only advised, but, in my opinion required in these times.
It is so easy to live a life with concepts, assumptions and imaginations which can derail the purpose of God in our lives because of the misrepresentations we ingest. We are looking at life, as Dr. Belinda John puts it, through “Broken Lenses”. Far too often we internalize this bad information and form ideas and opinions about our own value which are opposed to God’s vision for us.
I’ve heard it said that “the eyes are the window to the soul”. If that be true then it only makes sense that we use those eyes to observe what is really going on deep inside of us. It is easy to look outward and view the flaws, scars and shortcomings of others while we fail to see our own. We need to ask ourselves the hard questions like, what causes me to respond negatively over and over again. Why am I overcome with thought processes that keep me in a pit of depression? Why can’t I ever seem to get pass a certain level in my endeavors and who am I really created to be?
People spend way too much time measuring themselves up to what they are looking at outwardly on others and rarely any time looking inwardly through the perfect lenses of God’s Word. For some, the real opposing enemy to achieving our goals and living our dreams is not how the Giants sees us but how we see ourselves.
Numbers 13:33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
Aren’t you ready for change? Isn’t it time for you to go in and possess all that God has waiting on you?
Pray that your spiritual eyes will be opened to see truth and that you will be able to discern every season of your life according God’s plan for you. Remember; summer and winter seasons can be brutal but they are set in order by the same Creator of spring and fall.
Don’t be afraid to look at what God allows you to see within yourself. You may have some Giants in your land but God will empower you to take them out! Hallelujah!
The place He is taking you to will be likely bigger than you expected and it may indeed have some Giants squatting there. Don’t be discouraged, they are there to remind you of the BIGNESS of your God.
Discover who you are created to be in the Word of God and refuse to allow what God shows you to be diluted or polluted with erroneous data you’ve collected with your natural eyes.
Finally, come into agreement with what God says, no matter what. Take God off the clock because He is not subject to our time constraints, He created time. Trust that He will watch over His word to perform it for you and in you.
Precious Father, in the magnificent name of Jesus, I pray that you will open my eyes to see beyond what I can see through my natural eyes. Grant me dear Father that I might see through your perfect lenses of love and purpose. Strengthen my heart that I will not turn my eyes away from the revelation of who am and help me fully embrace the journey ahead which leads me into your perfect will. Amen.
