It is that time again that so many look forward to the seasons changing!
Spring is here and soon the weather for many will feel that way.
For some, the temperatures and even the weather activity have not yet been a true reflection of the calendar date. Even with that, I have noticed that the flowers, trees, and even the animals are beginning to bud and in some areas, come into full bloom. For nature, God has given His creations the instinct to bloom and begin to grow during months we call “Spring”. Since human beings are the ultimate creation, our lives are internally ready for the new season. Just as everything around us is changing whether it seems like the right time, when the season changes, it’s time make the soil fresh for growth.
Generationally, we prepare for the spring by cleaning and refreshing our home. Recently my daughter and I made some changes around my mother’s home that we did not announce, but needed to be completed. One point was to clean and remove items that had accumulated over the winter months in her storage area. The other was to change the flowers in her living area and hang a spring ornament on the front door. Her first reaction when she saw it was “The house looks like spring!”
Everyone is talking about spring cleaning. The same principles can be used when it comes to making changes in our lives. If you visit the hardware and retail shops, you will see items being sold and people looking for items that are a reflection of a new and fresh season. Most prepare without second thought, but because it is time for fresh, bright new surroundings. The very same principle needs to be used for your life. Without a lot of thought, because it is time, take your inventory and start the process of your spring cleaning.
Our lives should be a reflection on the outside of what God has spirituals placed on the inside; the fruits of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
I can hear you saying, Dr. Karen, this is much easier read than done! That is the truth for all of us which is why we all must be reminded daily through prayer, keeping the word in our hearts and having a mindset for change for only the better because it is God’s promise for our lives!
It is past time for you to be the woman God has ordained for you to be. You don’t have to sit anymore a look around wishing you could be someone of greater style, grace, or beauty. You are that woman right now.
Let your spring cleaning be automatic– without thought–because it is time! Turn over the soil of your past hurts, pain and disappointments and allow your life to be refreshed. The time is now for us to move ahead and blossom into the “who” He has created us to be.
Until next time, remember that every day you live is a second chance at life! Make every moment matter!
