Leaving the Details in ‘His’ hands

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Surrender is the key that unlocks the treasure chest of God’s best for us.

Numerous scriptures admonish us to acknowledge the Lord in all our ways. Many may have become familiar with these scriptures and others may have even memorized them to the point which they may render nothing more than cliche’, but truly trusting in the Lord is no trivial task.

In actuality, surrendering to the Lord is a learned discipline. When we decide to walk fully with the Lord there is a required submission which is contrary to the strong willed, selfish, and independent nature, which our generation has been reared in. Too bad for us… because of this we miss many precious opportunities of breakthrough. Instead of surrender… we resist… We resist aligning ourselves with His will for us; not fully understanding it’s His best which He desires to give us. Ignorantly, we push His desires aside, and continue to tread along learning life’s hard-knocked lessons.

Over the years, I have observed that surrendering my will in exchange for His was a much more difficult task during my earlier years in Him. I recall telling myself, that I wanted His plan to run my life, but when His plan was made known, I found myself resisting it more times than I care to remember. I reasoned my own self-made plans, and stubbornly followed through with them until I slowly realized His way was best. All the while, he patiently awaited my understanding.

My plans are not better than God’s plans

Enough of those tough life lessons, will eventually push us into the direction of His will. But in the process, we go through more than we should have, suffer more things than need be, and lose valuable time we can never make up.

Lesson: For Today,  Surrender your desire to control situations, outcomes, and people; Surrender your right to be right; Surrender your will in exchange for His; and Surrender your current finances for your inheritance. Allow His plan for your life to run its full course, and determine to embrace His best for you. Once His will is accomplished, His Name is Exalted, and His Glory is Magnified; all through your surrender….
