How to Market Yourself by Using Your Faith

Are you Marketable?

I was recently reminded that building an LLC (Limited Liability Company) is not something you have a slight interest in, and then try to make a go out of it. Building an LLC, is finding something that you are passionate about that no distraction, words of others, or self-doubt can get in the way of.

So, Faithpreneurs I have a few questions for you to ponder on:

  • What is it that you are passionate about?
  • What is “that” business that you have always wanted to start, but weren’t sure about how to get started?
  • Do you even want to own a business?
  • What are ways you can go about gaining knowledge in the field that you are passionate about?
  • What are ways you can make yourself marketable?
  • Then, make a plan.

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do and He will establish your plans.”
– Proverbs 16:3 NIV

Once the vision is before you, take an initial step forward into your vision by looking into one of the ways you can gain knowledge in your chosen field. When that happens opportunities will begin to open up to help you gain momentum, and help you become marketable in your field.

When you trust in God and draw nearer unto him he will draw near unto you, and that’s when you will begin to see God in every area of your life. God will utilize conversations with others, TV, a song, a book, teachings, etc. to get your attention. It is up to you to be paying attention to when He is speaking. So, I highly recommend you write that word down that stands out to you. Pray and mediate on it, because those words are  being repeatedly seen or mentioned for a reason they are being spoken into your life. Once you take that initial step in trusting God with the littlest things, not knowing where it’s going to lead. God will begin to open doors bigger and greater that no man can shut.

I’ll share a little about me to help motivate you:

Do I want to own my own business? Yes.
Am I passionate about writing and editing?
Yes.

Here are some things that I am presently looking into to help make myself marketable, but realize everything that I am gaining knowledge in requires some form of action to take place.

The items listed below came from conversations I have had, teachings I was exposed to, and a vision I had that was confirmed:

  1.          Program coding – Javascript, HTML & CSS
  2.   Keeping up with writing styles AP, APA, MLA
  3.   Learning more about manuscript writing, editing (by observing and doing)
  4.  A word from a conversation, prayed on, and then the next day someone
presented an opportunity for me to ghostwrite.

These things at times seem overwhelming. So, believe me I am taking it one day at time.

For now, I am moving at the pace that I need to go, in order for me to obtain my LLC and do it right. For my work serves a purpose, and for the work I do and will do, I do it to Glorify The Lord.

I have received my B.A. in Journalism from Eastern Illinois University, and am following the path God has preordained for me. I love to travel and interact with others and am always willing to learn more. I have a love for reading, music, dancing, pretty much anything that allows creativity to flow. I have always been drawn to writing, reading and editing in some way, shape or form. I remember telling my sisters and my mom, "don't be surprised if I show up one day with a book in my hand with my name on it." I believe that writing for Shulamite Women Magazine, is a part of that process. To one day stand in front of my sisters and mom with a book in my hand with my name on it.
