Ms. Lorra Brown recent CFO for Dr. Tony Evans and founder of Lorra Brown Ministries, shares on how she stumbled upon her life’s purpose.
Interesting enough, her personal ministry was formed during one of the most difficult times in her life. She had lost her grandmother, whom she was very close to, and was thrust into a downward spiral of depression. At this point in her life, she retells how everything she thought she was supposed to be in life, she had already become, and yet still there was something missing for her. She realized then, that even as she had attained a level of accomplishment in her own life, that it was her calling to empower other young women to do the same; first to know God and then to understand what He has called them to be.
Not only did she soon come to find out that there was no blueprint to fulfilling this new found purpose, but she also had to overcome a great deal of obstacles in order to align herself to it. “For such a long time I struggled with how was I going to speak to the young girls and women and another issue was dealing with churches, magazines and radio shows, as not being a licensed minister seemed to keep various platforms closed off to me.”
She states that she began seeking God in a new way, praying about her true life’s calling and began to live her life according to the word of God, and In 2012, with clear goals and objectives she birthed Lorra Brown Ministries.
Being a single parent of 3 children before she was 21 years old, and understanding what it means to be a single parent, she now speaks on various topics including self-esteem, parenting, financial literacy and domestic violence. Through dynamic keynote presentations, interactive training and creative off-site events she encourages women to embrace who they uniquely are and to discover who they are ultimately made to be. She now testifies, how with God on her side she overcame the odds.
To those facing difficulties and uncertainties she says “Hold fast to the Word of God. ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’ (Philippians 4:13) Let God guide you He is the author, He’s already written the ending to the story all you need to do is play the part that He has assigned you. Remember to trust in the Lord with all your heart. He may not come when you want Him, but He hears your cries and He knows you hearts truest desires. Wait on Him”.
