Faith Produces Revelation

Ironic how the title of my column is Faithpreneur, yet within the articles I’ve written, I never mentioned what faith means to me. Faith is such a broad term, but can mean different things to different people.

Faith to me, is knowing without a shadow of a doubt (being fully persuaded) that what I prayed for will be given unto me. Faith to me, is knowing that when I have a question, God will answer. Faith to me, is trusting God from point A to point B, even in the midst of a storm because I stand on His word: “When (I) pass through the waters, He will be with (me); and through the rivers, they shall not overflow (me). When (I) walkest through the fire, (I) shalt not be burned, neither shall the flame kindle upon (me) (Isaiah 43:2KJV).” For I know His word does not return unto Him void.

So, in the midst of me sharing what Faith means to me; I would like to reference back to my previous article where I talked about some of the things that would make me marketable.

Here are a few of those things:

  • Program coding – JavaScript, HTML & CSS
  • Screen writing/editing
  • Updating my knowledge within manuscript writing, editing (books)
  • A word from a conversation, prayed on, and then the next day someone presents an opportunity for me to ghostwrite.

God has blessed me with revelation of exactly why I have a desire for these things and that everything has its own season. This list may seem unattainable should I set out to accomplish everything at once, but I will wait patiently on the Lord as I work to achieve each one… in its own time…

As I get in His word and pray, God downloads information pertaining to my life, especially my love of writing. Through reading the word and prayer, I have developed an expectation of hearing from God and look forward to when He reveals something new to me.

I would like to focus on the word revelation for a moment. There is a scripture in Ephesians 1:17 (NIV) where it states, “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give (me) the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that (I) may know him better.” I received understanding of this scripture to signify that the closer I draw near to Him, the closer He will draw near unto me. In that sacrificial time spent with God I am developing an intimate relationship with Him. I am receiving wisdom of who He is and His desires for my life. I am receiving direction for the way I should go.

When I asked God in the beginning of the year to remind me of the dreams I had for this season, He did. I am now more clearly focused on screen and manuscript writing as well as editing in this season. I am utilizing the resources God downloads into my spirit for application and demonstration of my walk-in faith.

I now spend my time:

  • Reading scripts
  • Learning about Development, Production and Post-Production
  • Editing anything and everything I can get my hands on
  • Developing my writing style while I pen the book I intend to publish.

The purpose of my Limited Liability Company becomes more clear as I continue to learn.

People may wonder why I place such faith in God. I do so because He has never let me down. I have this question for Entrepreneurs of the world. If the definition of Entrepreneurship is an individual taking financial risks to develop a business, why not take a “faith” risk, placing your trust in God to see where He will lead you?

“…If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible
(Matt. 17:20-NIV).”

I remember telling my sisters and my mom, "don't be surprised if I show up one day with a book in my hand with my name on it." Not knowing what I spoke over myself back then would have such an impact on my life today. Writing and Editing is not something that I stumbled upon, it has always been a part of me. I tried different careers, but they never worked out, for God always led me back to writing and editing, and did it in a way that I had to laugh and thank Him. So, I gladly walk the path He has chosen for me to operate, live and walk in. I believe that writing for Shulamite Women Magazine, is a part of the journey God has me on and that one day I will stand in front of my sisters and mom with a book in my hand with my name on it.
