Dressed for Battle

The enemy couldn’t care less who you are or what you are wearing. That designer outfit cannot withstand fiery darts when they are hurled at you, from all different directions. As Christians, owning a suit from the Divine Master Tailor is a must!

Clothing trends today are constantly changing. Nevertheless, there is an outfit that is always in season. If you don’t already own one then you should try to get your hands on one, as soon as possible. Ephesians 6:11-17, describes this outfit in its entirety as the Full Armor of God. As you forge ahead on your Christian journey, having the right gear will prove to be essential.

All the designer clothes, shoes, hats, and the likes won’t help when the adversary sets his sights on you. While putting any outfit together for both women and men, one typically considers all the details from head to toe that will produce their winning look. The enemy does not care who you are or what you have on. That designer outfit cannot withstand fiery darts when they are hurled at you, from all different directions.

As Christians, owning a suit from the Divine Master Tailor is a must!

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10 KJV).

The all-important garment mentioned in scripture cannot be found in any retail store or virtual shop. It only can be found in the Word of God.

The armor of God also has several pieces that complete it; six to be exact. They include:

  1. TRUTH like a belt around your waist, (Ephesians 6:14a, HCSB)
  2. RIGHTOUSNESS like armor on your chest, (Ephesians 6:14b, HCSB)
  3. Your feet sandaled with readiness for the GOSPEL OF PEACE, (Ephesians 6:15, HCSB)
  4. The shield of FAITH for every situation, (Ephesians 6:16, HCSB)
  5. Wearing the helmet of SALVATION, (Ephesians 6:17a, HCSB)
  6. Along with the sword of the SPIRIT, which is the Word of God, (Ephesians 6:17b, HCSB)

Talk about the ultimate power suit! This ensemble has all the elements you need. This is the only outfit that will give you an advantage over your non-believing counterparts. Trials and tribulations will not stand in your way. Every area of your life will be brought into captivity: financial, mental; physical; and social challenges to the obedience of Christ.

Never be too relaxed when it comes to your relationship with Jesus Christ. Your adversary knows the Word too. Remember he was in Heaven at one point, and does not want God’s greatest creation to be successful through obedience to the Word of God. The Word is your blueprint for life, where knowledge and understanding of the one true and living God can be found.  The adversary will try to use your mind as his playground- confusion, depression, and any other mind-altering spirits in tow.

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee:
because he trusteth in thee.
(Isaiah 26:3)

If he can occupy your mind and keep your focus on your problems, it would please him. Once you start letting your problems know how big your God is, you will eliminate unnecessary stress in your life.  He is bigger than any problem, situation or circumstance you may experience. The armor is needed to assist you in your many battles.  God’s hedge of protection will always be needed, as you carry out the mandate He has for you.

Your soul should rejoice in the Lord, not for what He has done or what He will do, but simply for who He is.  He simply stated in Exodus 3:14, “I AM THAT I AM.”  This scripture encourages you, God is whoever you need Him to be, at any given time. He explains it seven times in the book of John:

I AM the Bread of Life (John 6:35, 41, 48, 51 ESV)
I AM the Light of the World (John 8:12 ESV)
I AM the Door of the Sheep (John 10:7, 9 ESV)
I AM the Good Shepherd (John 10:11,14 ESV)
I AM the Resurrection and the Life (John 11:25 ESV)
I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6 ESV)
I AM the True Vine (John 15:1, 5 ESV)

He cannot be contained in a box as so many would like to keep Him. When you are standing on the Word of the great “I AM” and you have on the right garment, it doesn’t matter what your situation looks like or sounds like, He is still in control. Whether He is blessing or chastening you, He is a loving, just God.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal,
but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds
(2 Corinthians 10:4 KJV).

Remember there is nothing too hard for Him (Genesis 18:14). He can do the impossible when man throws up their hands and says it cannot be done, Jesus shows up and brings it to pass. God’s Word is full of examples of Him instructing His people to stand on His Word. First Samuel 12:16 is one of many, which encourages you to stand and see the remarkable thing, which the Lord will do before your eyes.

The battle is not yours, but God’s (2 Chronicles 20:15 KJV). He wants His people to build a relationship with His Son Jesus, spread the good news and see exactly what He is capable of. When going through your warfare it is expected of you, to stand on God’s Word because it’s one part of the strategy in having victory over life’s obstacles. You also need to remember not to be afraid or discouraged because the Lord is with you amid your adversity.

Reading and standing on the Word gives you clarity and guides you in the right paths. Everything you need to navigate through your battles is in God’s Word. Trusting Him is very important as you face each new obstacle. You are victorious and your adversary is a defeated foe. Dressing for each battle requires the same outfit, the armor of God. Don’t leave home with- out it.
